Bringing your myth to light
In the last post we explored how the Moon can be used to illuminate different areas of your life as it travels through the astrological houses throughout the month. It is like a great coloring book you get to open every month. Your month is your art, and the moon gives you pages to paint on as you go through the month.
We suffer in the west from a certain type of nihilism. This is because the materialistic corporate sales culture combined with neo liberal though have left us with little mythic fabric to give meaning to ourselves with. Astrology is 100 percent an excellent way to help you find mythic meaning in yourlife again. The best part of it is that it does not rely on any given spiritual persuasion or philosophy to work. You can be a Christian, a Buddhist, an Atheist or anything to be able to enrich your life with astrology and find meaning in your day to day existence.
Like a hero of old, you will have consistent challenges in your life. Like Hercules you will have 12 areas of challenges that you will face. This our indicated by the 12 houses and the signs that occupy them. Working through these 12 challenges will be your 12 great deeds. The challenges will be easier or harder depending on the condition of the planet ruling the 12 signs. This will color the 12 houses, so those areas of life will face stronger challenges or easier challenges based upon the 12 signs.
Keep a Journal
Keep a journal as you go through the month. I like the app DAYONE. Then start putting in the journal what house the moon is in and what sign the moon is in. Begin to notice the common themes. This will help you develop a sense of what arises when and when you are most effective at different activities.
From my experience houses 1, 4, 7, and 10 are the best for being out and striving at your work. 2, 5, 8, and 11 are good for social relations and promotion. 3, 6, 9, 12 are best for the philosophical spiritual and selfcare routines.
Now here is the thing you will have to understand to make the most use of this. Depending on the signs that your individual planets fall in, the houses will have noticeable effects. Let us say that the Sun is in your 5th house and in good condition. You will have a really great time when the Moon is transiting the 5th house! Or let us say Saturn is in the 6th house in bad condition squared Mars. Oh man, those are going to be challenging days.
Making the Bad good and the Good better
The challenging days are going to make you stronger. When you know what the story is by journaling and studying the astrology, you are going to start rising to the task and become stronger. The good days are going to be what Buddhist call “child of the gods days.” You can loose your focus and intent on days like that because everything is just humming along too well.
This method will help you balance out your life. Not too much and not to little is a good mantra for living well. You are here using astrology as a path to live well and live a life well worth willing.
