When I go through the day and read of the lives of various celebrities through the internet culture. Always in the back of my mind there is the question of what is propelling them astrologically. Astrology holds that we are compelled in our actions by forces which the planets either emit, translate, or symbolically represent (depending on your world view within astrology). Occassionaly there is an event that is so juicy and fun, that I run to my computer and look up the chart, searching for the planetary dynamic that explains it. On to the chart. Snoop Lion was born the 20th of October 1971 in Long Beach, California by the name of Calvin Cardozar Broadus. His Birth chart using the Alcabitus system, which is my own preferred house system is below. Lets look at the natal chart, for whatever occurs in life must be with in the Natal Chart. He has a Taurus rising, causing him to be motivated by the enjoyment of sensual pleasures in life. He is a Libra Sun Sign, giving him the soul of an artist. His Moon is in Scorpio giving in the seventh house giving him a deep need to experience intense emotional transformation through the other in his current life. Please note the gifted Jupiter in the 8th house. Gifted because Jupiter loves being in Sagittarius, and Sagittarius rules the 9th house that of the spiritual, and the spiritual of foreign lands. Also note the Sun is in the 6th house, the sign of service.
One thing that really strikes me about this chart is that it appears he may owe his success to good producers and partnerships. Why do I say that, because the stellium in the 7th house of partnership is the strongest marker of this chart.
It is a vary interesting stellium, Mercury, Venus, and Moon operating together in harmony. Venus rules music, Mercury rules speech, and Moon rules the emotions and the people. It is in Scorpio, thus Snoop has an ability to touch i, and into the turmoil of life, sex, violence and transformative paths. Likewise because the center of the stellium is Venus in detriment, Snoop will find himself being alternative or counter to the mainstream views of the American Society.
Back to Jupiter, the two houses that Jupiter rules, Sagittarius and Pisces will be linked through him. These are the 9th and the 12th houses of spirituality and substance abuse or the hidden. In 2008 he briefly became a Mormon, which is a hidden and secret American Christian tradition. But it did not fit him, so he ventured further and in 2011 became a Rasta. Rastafarianism is based upon using the psychotropic Marijuana planet to come and know God and self better. This is a perfect marriage of the the 9th and the 12th house. The question is why now?
When we look at his directed chart, that is the chart which moves each planet forward 1 degree for every year of life we find that his Sun, or his identity, conjuncted Jupiter around one year ago by direction. Thus he began to take on a spiritual identity. Furthermore, his stellium of Venus, Mercury, and Moon, has now firmly entered the effects of the 9th house. Thus this powerful stellium for a musical voice has left the 8th house of sex and violence and moved into the 9th house of spiritual matters. In an interview he recently spoke of how he was coming out against guns, and how he could not do that as a gangster rapper, but he can as a Rasta. This is a perfect symbol for the transition of his stellium from the 8th to the 9th house. So lets here it for the spiritual transformation of Snoop Lion. From analysing the Birthchart I can assure you, that even though it is certainly well managed by his producers for maximum profit, it is an authentic change in his soul and its message.
