Welcome to October. I am sitting here drinking a mocha breve and listening to the first gentle rain of the season and loving it. My sweater is thick and warm, the cats are moving in for the season (they have a little obstacle in our new Pomeranian who is very jealous and territorial. I believe he may be Taurus, the little heathen.) So, this is Libra season. Something oddly comforting about it, if one takes out the brutal politics of the time cast upon us by… Donald Trump and the Ethno Christian Fascists of Project 2025 Neptune and Saturn conjunct and retrograde at the Aries zero point (reconfiguring human societal structures), Pluto in Aquarius (catalyst for revolution of the masses for a more equitable society), and Uranus in Gemini (new monetary policies and USA government reconfigurations). But worry not about those things. Unplug and be present in the joys of Libra season.
This week Chiron is on my mind. Chiron is a challenging planet in astrology. Not because it is hard to use, or delineate, rather because it plays out and morphs in different ways and has a tremendous amount of potential, but is also commonly used to define the soft tissue of a souls wound in the chart. Now right there, did you read that! That was the problem. Souls wound. Do souls experience wounds? I would say not, bodies, personalities, emotional crystallization constructs experience wounds. Ego’s experience wounds (ego is eternally wounded because there is no solid structure for it to rely upon as matter hurls through space). So we get alot of conversation about Chiron being the wounded healer, and while this symbolically speaks to the truth, it also leads the blind into the river Lethe.
Chiron’s natal placement is key to being ok with vulnerability. We would have a much saner world if more men (or people in general) were ok with vulnerability. I have been contemplating this from the perspective of Chiron being an ego wound, but that ego wounds are not bad things in life, if we don’t gloss over them, and instead find them as ways of allowing ourselves to be human. This seems like it is going to be an important endeavor as the world becomes more automated by the mechanisms of AI which are not human. Thus Chiron, I believe, is an essential planet for human growth in the upcoming Aquarian cycle.
Before going further I have to make it clear, although my background is in traditional astrology, I find Chiron is very useful in chart delineations, both for mundane world events and for personal guidance. Do yourself a favor and look at Chiron in your chart to understand yourself, your world, and your reactions to the world in a deeper and more fulfilling way. I can help with that if you like, book a reading and use the coupon code Chiron.

I have found four distinct ways Chiron manifests.
Chiron as the Wound:
This was the original hot take on Chiron and probably has a lot do to with Chiron being named after the mythic Centaur of the Greek tradition who was both a healer and suffered from an wound given to him by Hercules and an arrow poisened with the blood of a gorgon.
Here we find themes of wounds that do not heal. That is quite a bit to chew on, because there is this drive in our modern society to think that everything can be fixed. But it can not be. Has it ever been? No, society still is screwed up, we are still all suffering from old age, sickness, and eventual death. There is this place in your chart then, marked by Chiron, where you were wounded by the poison arrow of life, that gnaws on your soul for your entire journey on the mortal coil. Let us look at Kurt Cobains chart for the various Chiron indications. It is quite instructive:

Chiron as being a wound that can not heal falls in Kurt Cobain’s 7th house of relationship and marriage. His relationship with Courtney Love was famous for being both torturous and all consuming for him. Some even suspect she had him killed, although from what I have seen it certainly looks like it was his own doing. Still, is that Chiron in the 7th a Siren Song to the ocean (Pisces) of eternity for him?
This illustrates how we have to consciously work with integrating the Chiron wound into our psyche so it does not over whelm and consume us. There is a lot to look at with Kurt’s chart in terms of the wound. We also want to look at the element, which is of course water and implies emotions, as well as the sign, which is Pisces, the human unconscious or zeitgeist. This brings us to the next way of looking at and thinking about Chiron.
Chiron as the path to empowered individuation:

Where we find Chiron in our chart is where we become our most unique, distinctive, and authentic self. Kurt Cobain was a hero and an avatar to an entire generation, and perhaps to some for generations. In his short life he gave voice to the unconscious of America expressing the raw and powerful sound of the youth of his day. Chiron in Pisces should do exactly that as a form of empowered individuation, “give voice to the unconscious through art (it is conjunct Venus, the planet of Art and Music and Saturn the ruler of the 5th, the house of Art.)
Kurt’s individuation was through his Melodious Metal Music. Is this not Saturn/Venus expressing itself through the individuation of Chiron! Chiron by some is said to be associated with Virgo, and in Kurt’s chart Virgo rules the first of the personality. We have a man whose persona and individuation is marked by his emotional vulnerability (Pisces), his broodiness (Saturn), and his creative genius (Venus).
Chiron was wounded, but he was also the greatest healer in Greek Myth. This points out that our wound is our path to individuation. We can chose what we are focusing on in any given situation, that is what we have when we have soveirgnty over our mind. The focus on our eccentricity, our viability as an individual, our creative uniqueness in the realm of eternity, are all pointed to by Chiron. Victimhood was really in vogue while Neptune was in Pisces. This was good, as ideally it taught us how to be more sensitive and caring for the experiences of others. However, this approach is also terribly disempowering. To be a victim is to give your power and agency over to another. While this can occur against our own free will, and often does, how we carry that forward is often how we overcome. I am not so sure Kurt Cobain overcame his relationship victimhood, I think he would still be with us if he had. He did manifest empowered individuation as a voice for a generation. We still have that. That is still with us. Remember Chiron is immortal as a Centaur. Fully individuating through Chiron is a symbolic act of claiming your spirit as immortal, free from the definitions that others place on you.
Chiron in relationships
There is a mysterious murmuring background school of astrology called the Magi Astrology school. They are very good at their form of astrology and have a different approach to a few topics. The Magi School of Astrology treats Chiron as the planet of marriage/true love. In their research, Chiron shows up most reliably in the charts of couples who marry and in wedding/event charts. They argue that Chiron interaspects are the hallmark of lasting bonds, so they assign it rulership over committed relationships. I have seen Chiron as a strong marker of dawning relationships by transits, and, also times when relationship work is really needed.
The exact time that Kurt Cobain met Courtney Love, his wife, has been debated, but most say it was around early spring/late winter of 1990. At that time Saturn was sextile Chiron. The Magi Astrologers by the way say that Chiron/Saturn contacts are heart break contacts. Their relationship certainly had heartbreak and the the astrological symbology of that speaks for itself. We see in his natal chart he also has a Saturn Chiron conjunction. Relationship heart break is proves to be astrong a theme with his chart. We can assume it was his major wound, but maybe also the source of his raw emotional power, his great vehicle to individuation.
Courtney Love’s Chiron is conjunct Kurt Cobain’s descendant by the way. How is that for relationship aspects! There are two things we all crave in this world, love and money. At least most of us crave those two things. The second of those things, money is also indicated by Chiron. My understanding of Chiron as a financial significator first started to form from my work with financial astrology.
Chiron as a financial signifier
Astrologically, I am not sure you can 100% predict the market, but you can predict the emotion of the day, hour, and minute which reliable enough (I have observed 60 to 70% of the time) to see the upcoming market trends. As one watches the Ascendant in New York City, the greatest financial capital in the world currently, go around the Zodiac it aspects Chiron. Usually when it does so by a hard aspect the market drops in price.
Looking at natal charts though, here is the current richest man in the world. There are lots of reasons why his chart shows wealth, but here we are looking at Chiron. You will notice he has Chiron exactly in aspect to his Ascendant and Mercury. Chiron is in Aries meaning force of vision, and it is square Mercury meaning ideas and negotiations. His key to wealth has been selling his vision forcefully to investors and then pushing new concepts into the world. I think you can see what is going on here.
In Christmas 2008 Elon Musk and Space X were days away from Bankruptcy. At that time Chiron was conjunct Elons North Node and Mars complex in his 8th house. Ah! The financial aspect reveals itself!

I have placed all of these down as avenues for you to inquire about Chiron in your studies, charts, and consultations with others. Hopefully you will find them fruitful in avoiding victimhood, empowering yourself, having good relationships, and becoming financially fruitful.
