The floods in North Carolina and Tennessee, which are a result of hurricane Helene disassembling itself in the Blue Ridge mountains, are being called a once-a-century storm and weather event. They are occurring in the context of Jupiter the fabled “God of Storms” stationing at 21º Gemini and a Solar eclipse Saros South 8 which is a mixture of Saturn (hard things) the Moon (water) and Mars (severing.)
Asheville, North Carolina, which is an incredibly beautiful town, was hit particularly hard as the French Broad River heaved her mighty bosoms over the banks and nearly wiped out half the town. As of the writing of this article the town is still not accessible by highway, is out of power, and is mostly out of fresh water with the water system having been overwhelmed.
This tragedy also illustrates how the natal chart of a town can inform one about the experience a town will be going through just as much as a natal chart of human can. Here is the chart:
What you will notice is that Saturn in Pisces is opposing the natal Uranus which is being squared by the Station Jupiter. Here is the flood. The Saturn is in the 12th house indicating the town was caught unprepared and unaware how problematic the river over flowing would become. Jupiter Station is in Gemini in the 3rd house representing roads, and they were destroyed by the storm. Uranus is sudden disruptions.
The Solar eclipse will be opposed by the natal Jupiter of Asheville, which is ruling the 12th house Pisces, once again showing floods, and according to Brady’s interpretation of Saros 8º, “physical injury is possible,” which unfortunately happened to the town and a number of its buildings as well as residents.
The third testimony, and you want to see a thing happen three times to know it will occur in astrology si Transiting Mars is in the 4th of home and place trine natal Mars in the 8th in Scorpio. Both are water signs, once again indicating destruction of home and family.
While storms like this are going to become far more common in our age thanks to Exxon and Armaco ignoring the effects of their lust to profit off of oil and carbon, this is certainly a once in 100 year bad transit for the town of Asheville. May they recover in peace and prosperity and build back with a better system for routing water through their town.
Would I have predicted the flood, probably not, but looking at the charts, the narrative of how it fits into astrology is clearly present and worth studying. It is possible that astrology can help us prepare for disasters if it was funded well enough to give people the time to research upcoming transits to cities, states, and countries.
A number of people have written in asking where the founding date of Asheville North Carolina came from. I have used as the source Horoscopes of the US States and Cities” by Carolyn R Dodson. I find the narrative fits and am content with it as telling the story.
