Well, we find ourselves deep in the heart of the Metal Tiger year, the third year in the 60 year chinese zodiac cycle. The chinese Zodiac is made of 12 symbolic animals, making there way through 5 elements. The Metal Tiger is a fierce year. Metal is on top, it is the Heavenly stem, and Tiger is wood element, it is the earthly branch. The chinese zodiac known as the Four Pillars, or in Pin Yin, the Ba Zhi, is analyzed not only through the animal involved, but how the elements interact. Metal above, wood below. Here we see authority, cuts down the working class people.

A wonderful woman named Teresa, who came as a client,  asked for a quick explanation of the  Houses in traditional astrology. This is a technical explanation, meant to benefit those who are interested in learning a little bit deeper how to use the horoscope to predict events.

We have planets and Luminaries, which are forces and energies. We have Signs, which are Archetypal ways those energies display themselves. Finally we have houses which is where those energies display themselves.

The first thing to know about the twelve houses is that they have different degrees of power. The 1, 4,7, and 10th are called angular, and a planet found in them will express its energy and intention with full force. the 2, 5, 8, and 11th houses are called succedent, and a planet there will effect its power when goaded on by others. The 3rd, 6th, 9th, and 12th houses are called cadent, a planet there has not much capacity to effect its power in the world, and is prone to serve. As you read more and more charts, you will find this to be true.

Their are two ways to read the houses, psychologically internal, and manifestly external. In this case I will explain the manifestly external,

The first house is the house of the Horoscope and Ascendant. It signifies the native, its three triplicity rulers signify the quality and condition of the 3 phases of life, beginning, middle, and end.

The second house signifies the finances and possessions of the native. Its three triplicity rulers signify the condition of the possessions and financial well being of the native during the beginning, middle, and end of the natives life.

The third house signifies the brothers and sisters of the native. The first triplicity ruler is the elder, the second is the ones of like age, and the third is the younger.

The fourth house signifies father, family, and home. The first triplicity ruler signifies father, the second home, the third ability to negotiate well.

The fifth house signifies, children, creativity, leisure and sensual enjoyment. The first ruler signifies children, the second enjoyment, and the third honors.

The sixth house signifies, health, servants, and ones toil. The first trip ruler signifies health, the 2nd servants, and the third toil.

The seventh house signifies: marriage, open enemies, and business associates. The first trip ruler signifies marriage, the second open enemies, the third business associates.

The eighth house signifies death, inheritance and the money of others. The three rulers signify in order, death, inheritance, and money.

the ninth house signifies distant lands, education, and religion. The three trip rulers signify in their order, journeys, faith, and wisdom.

Sunday, is according to the Chaldean Order, ruled by the Sun. That means the Sun has glory and strength on Sundays. Perhaps they meant more that it was a sacred day for the Sun, meaning that ceremonies to honor the Sun were done on this day. We can do just such. It is a natural yogic, or taoist, or naturalist, or spiritualist activity to meditate on the nature of the energy of each day through the week. They do have the qualities of the astrological body/ being that rules them, and each is ready to help you in its activities, if you, “tune in” to it, so to speak.

The Sun has a breathing cycle, it breaths in and out exactly 9 times a day in a rhythmic cycle. During this cycle its surface expands and contracts about 8 miles up and down. In the west we have lost the notion that everything is alive, that all form has spirit, that all form is occupied by being. This is what Shintooffers as a teaching to humanity. If we look at the Sun from this perspective, and understand how without the Sun, life on Earth, our life could not happen, then perhaps it makes sense to honor, and respect the Sun once a week.

In your chart the expresses itself as your noble goodness. When you pay respect to the Spirit of the Sun, that is what you are honoring, your all virtuous noble goodness. a most beautiful Yin Yang, from a most tragic event, as we try to learn balance from the earth.

On earth day a small tragedy occurred in the Gulf of Mexico. Deepwater Horizon exploded from a gas and oil blow back, killing 11 men. The accident was a furious response from the planetary gods to an amazing act of Man’s hubris. The full effects of this tragedy are becoming apparent in just the last few days, estimates are now that by the time the oil flow from the well peaks it could be leaking as much oil into the Gulf of Mexico as the Exxon Valdez did, every two days.

Which of the planetary god’s had there hand in this? First we always look to the Moon. At the time of the explosion, around 10 pm on April 20th, the Moon was in the ninth mansion known Al Tarf, or glance of the lions eye. This mansion has the following influence on events that occur during its domain: Divine Wrath, dis-empowerment, frustration, and misfortune. This influence was in the 8th house, the house of death and destruction during the time of the explosion. The Moon was in Cancer indicating an ocean disaster, conjunct the South Node, making the malefic effect much worse.

Mars, the God  of fire and explosions, had a hand ind taking down Deepwater Horizon, it was his day and hour that the explosion occurred, thus he was super empowered. Mars was square retrograde Mercury. Mercury the trickster God had a hand in this, we can gather from this that computer failures and mechanical failures caused the safety systems to not function properly. Jupiter in Pisces had a hand in this, Jupiter is conjuncting Uranus, and remember whenever Jupiter gets involved, it is going to be big!

The sun was Trine Pluto in Capricorn, Illuminating the nature of Pluto in Capricorn. Pluto is the depths and hidden, Capricorn buries it in the deep below the earth. Pluto is a transpersonal planet, this means it does not take into account the individual in its actions, its actions effect the world as a whole. Man thinks that he can control and use the toxic resources of the earth without destruction, but Pluto in Capricorns nature be will to destroy the structures and infrastructures of industry and business. It signifies upheaval and power of the earth, and facing the reality of our limitations as humans. Likewise Capricorn represent fossil…that which is ancient, and Pluto represents deep, hidden matters of power. We will probably see more incidents of this type, and more reliance on Fossil fuels for the next 13 years. Not until Pluto enters Aquarius will the new energy technologies become more prevalent than the old fossil ones. IF that is the case and if we are going to be masters of the ecosystem, we must do so with Capricorns integrity and caution, not the haste and deception that BP used to push the drilling proposal through the MMS, stating, “risk of an unmanageable accident is almost negligible.”

Perhaps the lesson from the event is to be more humble.
