When one considers such a thing, the rise of fundamentalism is seen as having a function. For fundamentalism offers faith to its followers, faith that they are part of something, that they have a place in the universe. This appeals to people on a deep emotional level, a level that goes deeper than the intellect and what it knows. This principle of Faith can be found in Jupiter. Jupiter as an old god, a planet who would circle the Zodiac every twelve years from our perspective on earth is giving the meaning of faith, spiritual joy, good fortune. For this reason it is considered the greater benefic in astrology.

We all need the principle of the Greater Benefic in our lives. A belief that everything is going to work out well, for the better, and if we have hope, and strive hard, and do good, then things will work out well for us. I have found often times that those who do not have well aspected Jupiters in their charts struggle with faith. Not the kind of faith that is religious necessarily, but an even more basic faith that things will work out. This is the kind of faith that gives hope during difficulties and saves us from Nihilism.

Look at where Jupiter is in your chart, that is the place in your life where you are lifted out of depression and given a higher purpose in life. Therefore it is a place where you know you can go to for comfort when you are faced with challenges.

This works, because everything is interdependent. Astrology is the study of interdependence on a grand and microcosmic level. The myths and archtypes that lend themselves to the bodies of astrology are as old as humankind, and have been in use since the dawn of history. They are so embedded in the psyche of man, that they fit into every religion. Thus they permeate all societies. Elections work, because of the deep connection between the archetypes that make up our conscious mind, subconscious mind, and unconscious minds. Elections are taping into that power, whether people are aware of it or not.

The time that the president signed the bill was 12:16 pm January 16th, 2013th in Washington D.C., the chart for that signature is below:

The sign which is best at controlling in the Zodiac is Capricorn. Wherever you find Capricorn you find control. Here we find Capricorn on the midheaven. This is a place of power. The Sun is in Capricorn, conjunct the place of the Midheaven, giving maximum control to the ruler. Who is the ruler, the ruler is always the Sun. Thus with this signing, the president gains maximum control through his rule. These executive orders will not be undone. Rather they will be built upon. The other meaning of Capricorn, which is a fixed earth sign is a foundation. If you want anything to last, you do it when Capricorn is involved.

Capricorn is ruled by Saturn, Saturn is conjunct the angle of horizons. Here it gains tremendous power to support the rule of the Sun. The power comes from secret agreements, as Capricorn is in Scorpio, the sign of Secrets. Despite the public outcry of opposition parties, there has already been agreement on how gun control will be introduced to America. This is what I see indicated by this placement of Saturn.

The Moon, which is the translator of the energy of the stars to earth, by its motion, in western astrology, is at 0* Aries. This is the place of new beginnings. Anything started at 0 degrees Aries indicates the start of a cycle or endeavor. These executive orders are for the new endeavor of controlling the guns in the possession of the American Public. The Moon represents the public, as well it is in the 12th house, which is the house of controlling, and dis-empowering, and mental illness. We are seeing the power of the American Public limited by this motion. (Again, I am for limited gun control, so make of that statement what you will. I believe that people should have back ground checks before being able to purchase a gun.) The moon also rules the fourth, which in a national chart is the people. I believe that the indication is that the ability of Mentally unstable people to own guns will be taken away as the end result of these executive actions.

Mars, which rules the Moon, is in Aquarius, the sign of the public good on the Midheaven. This indicates that the government believes it is doing this action to further the good of the people.

This chart is a powerful election for ensuring that Gun Control becomes law. With this chart it is fait accompli.

Stela J depicts the Long count. It is uncertain what was really meant by the date August 11 3114 BC but they wrote it, and now we are tripping out about it.

Wait one second…did I say flip the calendar? What is that about? We flip the Calendar every year. We flip from Dec. 31st to Jan. 1st every year. In doing so does the world end? Actually, we just set off some fire works, drink a lot, get into occasional debauchery and trouble, and wake up hung over. In fact, if we were not all about to transcend, this year we would be celebrating the end of the world known as 2012 and the beginning of the world known as 2013, but no western calendar fanatics are calling for mass destruction or transcendence…what gives? Maybe the Judeo-Christian Latin world was not as apocalyptic and blood thirsty as the Central American Mayan people. Well, actually, I am sure the JCL’s are more blood thirsty, you see, the subjugated the entire world, installed the Latin Calendar as the world system, along with Coca Cola and Starbucks as the world drink, and put a salvation with only room for some 3000 folks to transcend in there holybook. That is pretty bad. The Latins win hands down for the greatest bloodiest conquering and exclusionary tribe of known history.

So what if the end of the Mayan Calendar is just a Calendar flip? Well, actually, it is. Now don’t get mad, if you want to transcend to the 13th dimension right now, be my guest. I am all for that. But concerning the facts of the Mayan calendar itself and the mythic meanings it is said to embody, one of the difficulties we have is that the Latin culture we were talking about actually wiped out 99.99% of Mayan books, and the entire Native Mexican priest class intellectual structure which knew the complete oral history of what was going on. Thus sadly, we don’t actually know what thir scientific priest class was thinking when they carved these dates in stone, because white man is so good at destroying tribal traditions. We destroyed their culture, thank God we did. If we hadn’t then certainly the international economic crises would be far worse this year as we wouldn’t have a thriving market of quartz and amethyst sales as people prepare to meet HaHe ReRo when they transcend to the Pleiades. (speaking of which, feel free to call me for a crystal guaranteed to aid in spiritual transcendence for a mere 150 U.S. I have blessed it with my special spiritual substance and boy does it vibrate!) The downside of it all, is know we get to guess at why they would carve dates in stone.

Here is a very brief summary of what is known of the Mayan long count calendar system. According to the Mayan system this world was established on August 11, 3114 BC. It is interesting that a whole lot of people who scoff at the christian theocratic assertion that the world is only 6 or 7 thousand years old have no problem jumping on the Mayan calendar band wagon, which states this world, the 4th world started in 3114 B.C. What is indicated here is that the calendar turned over then, and a new age of man was started. The fourth. Now we are where the 5th Age would theoretically start. For at December 21, 2012 is simply the day that the calendar will go to the next b’ak’tun. B’ak’tun’s are roughly 5126 years long. So, the Mayan Calendar flips from the date 13.0.0.0.0 to 1.0.0.0.0 that night. Whoot! Now making it to another B’ak’tun was considered a major universal feat. It was a time of Ceremony. Now we should all remember that Ceremony is a translated as drinking, partying, and dancing in traditional societies.

Do you see where we are. We are back at the beginning. The end of the world, is just the new year. The flipping of the calendar, and a great time for drinking, partying, enjoying, celebrating. We made it! We get to see the calendar flip. We might not evolve into photonic rainbow light on Dec. 21st 2012, but at least we can really have a good excuse for some drinking, dancing, sex, and rock and roll that night! Well, one second. An important note is that ceremony in a traditional sense also involved trying to become better humans and praying. This is just like your New Years resolution. We must not only party, but try to become better humans and better caretakers of the garden, that is the earth. Don’t forget that part. It is important.

As a powerful example I have a client whose nodal access is at 4* gemini. The first solar eclipse of this cycle conjuncted her Moon. The Lunar eclipse is conjunct her south node, she became pregnant.

Certainly an eclipse event in the Natal Chart is going to trigger a karmic challenge or lesson. For an event to occur, one must have an orb of 2.5 degrees or less by opposition or conjunction. Some use wider orbs, but I do not find the eclipse is certain to effect if you go farther than that or if you use other aspects. Brady will use a square aspect by one degree, but I have not seen the square have enough force to radically push the native in the case of a transiting eclipse.

Lets say you have Saturn at 6 degrees Gemini in the 5th house. The likely effect of this eclipse will be one of forcing engagement in creative endeavors, or with children. This would be a case out of responsibility or duty. But the experience, because of the nature of the Saros Cycle would be one of joy, or enjoyment. Look at eclipses in the natal chart as karmic triggers.

In Mundane astrology the Sign of the lunar eclipse is indicitive of the weather for the next season. This is said by Masha’allah, who lived in 8th century Iraq. He said, “it is fitting to know the Ascendant of the middle of the eclipse, and the one who is in charge of the same Ascendant and its figure. Which if it were a malefic, it will signify impediment and destruction. But if it were a benefic, it will signify fitness. It is also said we can tell by a lunar eclipse the weather for the following season, this would depend if it were in an Air sign, Water sign, Fire sign or Earth Sign.”

The eclipse is occurring in the windy sign of Gemini and is conjunct Jupiter who rules winds and storms. Likewise the Ascendant for the eclipse is Scorpio, a tumultous water sign. We can safely surmise that it will be a stormy windy winter for the west coast of the Americas. But what of the people. One would have to look a the town and location for what the ascendent is during the eclipse. I prefer looking at the Solar eclipse for the fate of the people predicted during the eclipse, and then I prefer to look only for those whom the eclipse is casting its shadow. However. In watching events from eclipses unfold, I believe that is not necessarily correct. My judgement is still out. If this eclipse cycle was to say something about the people on the West Coast of US. So all I will predict on a Mundane level is a stormy winter with high wind.

That is why people don’t like Saturn. It is the limitations and the burdens of life. Where Saturn falls natally in ones chart is a place where one experiences one of two things, limitation or burden. For example if we say Saturn is in the fifth house, that of children or creativity, then one is limited in ones ability to have children, or burdened by children. I have seen enough examples of this to know the truth of that. If we look at Saturn through this lens we get an interesting way to read the Saturn return.

The Saturn return, as it hits exact, is a blueprint of the main work that a person will do during that Saturn cycle. It will follow like all cycles, that is from emptiness (the new) to fullness (the manifest) and back to emptiness again. Critical points in the cycle will be every 7 years. That will be when Saturn squares, opposes, and then again squares itself. What is it that is manifesting, it is the chart of the Saturn return. I use the first hit. Others may use other hits. Everyone gets one hit, but not everyone gets three hits. So the first hit is the common denominator.

Lets take a look at a chart and see what it says. Out of the Magic astrologers bag we are going to pull, Brad Pitt. Brad Pitt is of course a famed actor, but he is more known for his social activism work and his marriage to Angela Jolie. Here we have an actor, whose work, or burden or duty we would consider acting, but his life work during his middle years appears to have connotations of social service and marriage. Here is the chart:

Here we see Brad Pitts thirty year cycle laid out for him starting in 1993. Notice the strong Aquarian eleventh house. That is humanitarian work for the world, and a belief that part of what his purpose is is to provide hope. Notice Jupiter in Libra in the 7th house that is the idealistic and beautiful wife who expands him into world wide justice issues. Notice the Moon and Venus in the twelfth, that of hidden things. Well this is interesting…perhaps there is more to Mr. Pitt than meets the eye. But it does remind one of the affair he had with Angelina that broke him up with Jennifer Anniston. Saturn in its exaltation during the 30 year saturn return cycle indicates he will have kingly success during that time in the houses it rules. It rules the 10th and 11th house. Career and society. Certainly that has paned out.

One may be served well by looking into ones own Saturn return chart. You can see it is a good roadmap!

And here in is the rub. I have read the work of a lot of astrologers with various predictions about the upcoming election. The one thing that most agree on is an Obama Victory. But most believe it will be really close. However what I see is a huge variety of methods, many of which to some degree contradict each other. For instance, I would like to see this Mercury retrograde aspect within three degrees a chart point in the US natal chart to suggest that there will be election upheaval of an abnormal sort. Even this presents a problem as there are multitudes of charts that people use for the birth of the United States. Mercury is going Retrograde at exactly 4 degrees eighteen minutes of Sagittarius. When I compare it to the three most popular charts used for the United States: the Scorpio rising chart, The US Sibley Chart, Mercury is not in aspect to any significant point in the chart. However in the US constitutional chart, Mercury is in aspect to the Moon, representing the “people” in the 11th house (hope and joy) by two degrees. The moon in this chart rules the 7th house which is the other. I do not see this as being an invocation of a long legal wrangle. Some people have suggested on my facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Heartastrology/356861039546?ref=hl) that Mercury Retrograde indicates returning to the old president. With Mercury aspecting the moon in the US Constitutional chart, I would tend to agree. For astrology wonks, I have rectified the US constitutional chart to 3:28 pm Philedelphia, Septemeber 17th 1787.

The US Sibley chart is interesting for the Ascendant conjunct the Leo North Node in the eighth house of birth and death in around 6 months from this post. There are a lot of arguments for why the Sibley chart does not work, but if it does, this would indicate a threat to the life of the “king” in May of 2013. But more to the point of this post, I just do not see enough evidence that this election will be one that is contested or confused. Likewise if I look to the Washington DC equinox chart, which holds the specific destiny for the nation during the fall quarter, (Washington D.C., Sept. 22nd. 10:51 am.) we find the Mars in the first house well dignified ruling the first house. This is indicative in my mind of a clear mandate and direction occurring for the country. Interestingly enough in this chart Neptune sits retrograde in Pisces in the fourth, the flooding of the homeland. The fourth is also ruled by Saturn which is in the house of the hidden undoing (12th) in a wind sign. But the Mercury Retrograde point does not aspect any significant points with in this chart also.

I would like to make a personal note here. Although we are speaking of mundane matters, this applies to ones own chart also. If Mercury going retrograde aspects a sensitive point in your chart, then you can expect it will effect you in noticeable ways. If it does not, it probably will not be a big deal for you, and you can proceed with a little more caution and patience than usual and all will be fine.

While Mercury going retrograde might create a sense of confusion in the air, I do not believe it is confusion about the election. I am just a student of this art however, and look forward to learning if the Trickster has tricked me this time.

Concerning who will win the office itself. I defer to Nate Silver for that.

Now obviously for those of us who live in America, Hurricane Sandy is getting a lot of play. As I write this it is devastating the east coast, in ways that we will not know the full extent of for days. It seems though that the New York City Subway system is suffering from historic flooding, that at least 14 houses in the “rockaway district” are on fire, and other intense damage is being done to the city.

So, if Masha ‘Allah is correct, then I would theorize we could see the karmic winds of this storm, so to speak, in the New Moon Chart for New York City. Here is the chart:
The first thing I noticed was Saturn exactly conjunct the Asc. in Scorpio. That is a heavy seed being planted. When I see Saturn conjunct the Ascendant in a natal chart, always the person is very hard on themselves. They are learning a hard karmic lesson in the current life. Saturn is considered the greater malefic in traditional terms. It is very powerful as it is in one degree. The next thing I notice is that Mars and Uranus are in exact trine! This is important. Mars rules violent storms and fires. Uranus is also very active when storms are involved. Mars is the lesser malefic. It is ruling the identity of the City for the current Lunar Return. That is the city will be transformed by forceful and violent storms. Scorpio is a water sign, so the main significator is water, but Mars and Uranus are in Fire signs. Thus we could see that despite all the water the element fire will get its say to. With Saturn right on the ascendant, one can expect the law will come down very hard and very quick on looting or any sign of social unrest as a result of the storm.

On the positive side, the part of Fortune is conjunct the Ascendant also. Even though the Mars in the 2nd house of finacial matters indicates a costly storm, a good deal of wealth will quickly flow into the city to get it back on its feet. The Sun indicates the rulers of the city. They are in the 12th house which is powerlessness. That indicates they are not capable of doing anything to prevent the nature of the disaster itself as it arises.

It is easy to judge in retrospect, but I would say this chart has been very illuminating as to the effect that a new moon in scorpio can have when exact aspects rule the ascendant of a given chart, along with Saturn conjunct the Asc.

I believe the purpose, if one is to speak of such things, in this chart, is to illustrate and force positive action in relation to the rising oceans and tumultuous weather patterns that man has created upon the beautiful garden of the earth.

When we think of the planets traveling through the zodiac, we as mortal humans wonder what it means for our lives. Our lives are very important to us after all, they are all we know. But, to the gods, or the machinations of time, space, and archetype represented by the movements of the planets, our lives are of no significance. This is something that was really understood by the spiritual belief systems of previous centuries. In some ways it seems as if it may be refreshing to contemplate, that we are but pawns in the play of time. So often astrology is used to encourage narcissism. Really that is not just the flaw of the clients, it is also the flaw of the astrologers. Clients come to us, to hear how great there lives are, how purposeful there experience is, they are looking for myth and validity. It is our duty to give that to them, but often times, the myth is also couched in the language of glorification, for glorification sells. It is a fine drug to hear how great you are, and what your possibilities in life are. The tragedy is that few can live up to there full potential, and those that can, honestly are not really living comfortable lives by most peoples standards. In the end only a few can be hero’s, or those who leave there mark on humanity as it courses through its role as keeper of the garden of spirit. The Garden of humanity has regular tides, the tides come and go like tides on a beach. They have there own color and flavor and that color and flavor can be described through the tonalities of the movements of the planets. The inner planets, Moon, Mercury, and Venus move to quick to give flavor. They are fluttering lights, like butterflies in the spring, there movement is generally too quick to catch. This does not deny that our psyches will find events like Mercury Retrograde, or void of course moon palpable, but these events will not color our History.

When you get to the outer traditional planets, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn, you find planets that do color History. They move slower, in greater swaths of times, and there motions through the Zodiac and in respect to one another have something to say about the trends of our lives. Thus we can say of Saturn, he will spend 29 some years going through the signs of the Zodiac, in some Signs he will be happy, and we will be more or less happy, in some signs he will be uncomfortable and angry, and surely that will reflect. Saturn being in the sign of Scorpio is Saturn in the place of birth and death. The macabre eighth house, the hidden, the occult, the psyche, the process of letting go so that the new can arise again.

With Saturn in Scorpio, in the world we will see elder statesmen and figures dying. We are already seeing that. In the last two weeks, Americans are loosing George McGovern, and lost Arlen Spectar. Both of these gentlemen are elder statesmen. In general though, I have heard of many people dying the over the last two weeks as Saturn moved into Scorpio. I can never tell whether it is because I am now just keen on the energy and looking out for it, or whether it is a rush, as Saturn claims new territory. Saturn also represents control, and Scorpio is the hidden. We will see what has been a fairly open process of governing, revolution, and change in the last two years be taken to back rooms on the world stage. Robert Zoller has said that the age of Aquarius (ruled by Saturn) has Scorpio on the midheaven. Thus he predicts that in general during the age of Aquarius the rulers will be secretive and remain hidden.

In our own charts, we are going to go from a strong urge to seek balance in our lives and the world as our ground, to seeking dramatic changes and questing for power as our ground of action in the world. That is, how we will react to the challenges of life itself, will be more from a place of an urge to control our environment, rather than seeking balance with in. To live consciously, one will have to take care of this energy, using it constructively for the betterment of humanity, rather than ones own self glorification. It is interesting…as I write this, my wife is asking…what would you do right now if I died, how would we take care of that. Maybe more than anything else, that is Saturn in Scorpio.

To boot it is not combust nor retrograde, thus it is very capable of carrying out the will of the soul that is Bill Clinton. When I see such conditions, I am always in awe.

But astrology is not ever just why, it is also when. Now Bill Clinton happens to have just entered his Mars/Mercury Fidar. That means what Mars and Mercury want to do will be happening for him over the next few years. Mars and Mercury together want to be a fighter through debate and speech. You may have notice alot of commentary in the news was about how this was his triumphant return, and he still has is oratory. He is back as a verbal fighter for the next two years. Expect to see more of Mr. Clinton fighting for what he believes in, in the news.
