The 60 year Chinese calendar cycle known as the Hsia Calendar begins this year on February 5th. The Hsia calendar is made of 12 animals and 5 elements. This creates a sixty year cycle that repeats itself. The Hsia calendar is a solar calendar and it always starts at the midpoint between the winter solstice and the spring equinox. This is why it always falls on February 4th or 5th. This is the year of the Yin Earth Pig.
Because of how the 5 elements and the elements of the animals interact we can make a forecast for the year. Also, how the year of the pig interacts with the other 12 animals of the zodiac allow us to make general predictions for each sign during the year.
As a general prediction for the year of the Yin Earth Pig we can start with an understanding of the Pig sign. The pig is an active sign that likes pleasure, good times, is optimistic, and likes being social. The pig is generally a peaceful animal and that is really true for Yin Earth Pig. This is because Yin Earth is accommodating and that combines with the peaceful nature of the pig. Even though the element of the pig is water and water clashes with earth, we should not see to much conflict this year.
Because the water element and the earth element are predominant for the year, we can expect to see unstable earth. This can manifest as earthquakes, tidal waves, and floods. Likewise, we can expect to see areas that are too wet, and other areas that are too dry. Yin earth is considered unstable so also there will likely be news during the year of buildings or structures collapsing as well as the manifestation of sink holes in the news.

A final note for the education of readers when one makes predictions in astrology, they are not fool proof. Why is this? Because astrology is a quantum problem. Time, people, and their interactions are always changing. We can never factor in all the considerations, our brains are human, not divine. Sometimes predictions are really good. This is grace entering the astrologers mind or allowing for a receptivity from the person reading the article. Sometimes the predictions are not right, this means the astrologer did not look deep enough, or circumstances changed. So please always take astrology as a guide for how to look at the world and reflect on it, but do not concretize it into hard realities that you worry about.
